Vino Zona is an amazingly little wine bar in Jerome, Arizona that is a must visit if you find yourself in this up and coming wine community. We were really pleased to see that Vino Zona only serves Arizona wines. Distribution for Arizona wines is somewhat limited outside of the state, so it’s nice to have a one-stop shop where you can have a range of wines from local Arizona wineries in one place.
The Vino Zona we visited was located in Jerome, Arizona, but the tasting room also has locations in Cottonwood and Sedona.
Stepping into Vino Zona in Jerome, Arizona, is like entering a cozy friend’s living room. The bright, airy space feels open and inviting, and the plush velvet couches and armchairs are perfect for relaxing. Fun wallpaper adds a touch of personality, and the soft pink exterior complements the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Tucked-away nooks offer intimate spaces for wine tastings, making Vino Zona the perfect spot to unwind and savor local Arizona wine.
All of Vino Zona’s reviews mention the knowledgeable tasting room staff, and our server, James, was no exception. He was great.
Here’s a quick rundown of the wines we sampled:
Sassy Redhead, Grenache Blend NV 85 pts
Very fruit-forward wine with an approachable palate. Not bad for a non-vintage wine.
The Quick Hand, Tannat, 2021, 91 PTS
A rich, tannic wine made with 50% Willcox, 50% Sonoita, Arizona grapes. A great food wine. This is a wine we would take to a restaurant for corkage.
Laramita Tres Caballeros, 2022 82 PTS
45% Montepulciano, 45% Sangiovese, 10% Syrah
This three-way red blend is fresh, fruity, and vibrant. It expresses notes of red cherry and plum, along with a subtle spiciness and dusty tannins. Winemaker recommends pairing this red wine with Italian food, and we don’t disagree.
Birds & Barrels, Petit Verdot, 87 PTS
Birds and Barrels Vineyards is a family-owned Arizona winery founded by Chad and Monica Preston. The grapes used to make this wine were sourced in Wilcox.
Omphalos Winery Petite Sirah 2019, 87 PTs
A bouquet of plum, vanilla, hickory, and pomegranate on the nose. Black cherries, currants, vanilla, and berry cobbler on the palate.
Dos Cabezas, Pink Wine 2023, 70 PTS
60% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 18% Graciano
Really disappointing.
The Blonde Bombshell, 80 PTS
A medium-bodied and elegant Grenache blend. This wine was a little over-oaked, but still good.
Oak Creek, 75 PTS
This Viognier wine was definitely over-oaked. The excess oakiness really distracted from what should have been a crisper white wine.
Purrfect Picpoul, 85 PTS
A great wine for a great cause. $2 from every bottle goes to the Arizona Humane Society. Students at the Southwest Wine Center crafted this wine for Vino Zona.
Laramita Dessert Wine
A big, bold dessert wine that comes in at 19% alcohol. This would have been great with an after-dinner cheese course. Cherry, plums, and black tea on the palate.
Sollenberger Sauvignon Blanc, 2023, 79 PTS
Made with grapes from Gila County.
Vino Zona is open 7 days a week, which makes wine tasting a breeze.

We enjoyed stopping in Vino Zona to sample local Arizona wines that would otherwise be hard to find. The hospitality was excellent, and we were able to taste an array of white and red wines. This is a great alternative to going to a winery for a traditional tasting.
