Our list of Los Cabos restaurants with stunning ocean views just keeps growing, and the latest addition features none other than De Cortez Grill House at the Marriott Hacienda Del Mar Los Cabos. This Baja beach restaurant strikes the perfect balance between the casual seaside restaurants and upscale food that we love to experience when we travel to Valle de Guadalupe for our wine-tasting adventures.
If you’re looking for a Los Cabos restaurant on the beach with a robust menu filled with good-sized portions of fresh seafood, savory steaks, and lots of steakhouse-inspired side dish options, you’re going to love De Cortez Grill House.
Just a quick word about the Marriott Hacienda Del Mar Los Cabos. This hotel used to be under Sheraton management when it was called Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda Del Mar. If you see reviews for the hotel or restaurant that list Sheraton in the name, this information may be a bit dated, but it is, in fact, the same hotel.
There are so many romantic restaurants in Los Cabos to choose from, and the Marriott Hacienda Del Mar, Los Cabos, is home to two of the best: De Cortez and Pitahayas. Not surprisingly, both restaurants share a similar, beachy vibe. The tables are candlelit, romantic bulb lighting hangs from above, and the ocean is literally a stone’s throw from the outdoor dining area.
When the restaurant says, “You can’t get much closer to the beach than at this restaurant,” they’re not joking. We opted to sit outside when we dined, it’s hard to resist the pull of oceanfront dining in Baja, but the indoor dining area is just as charming.
The menu at De Cortez has tons of options for steak lovers. All in all, we counted nine different cuts of steak and lamb, including a whopping 32-ounce tomahawk steak for two. If you find it hard to pick between the many cuts of meat, do what we did and go with the Butcher’s Board. A Butcher’s Board includes prime rib, lamb rib, shrimp, New York strip steak, and scallops. Just like the other steaks on the menu, this dish comes with sauces like chimichurri, au jus, bernaise, and bourbon BBQ.
But there’s more to this grill house menu than thick cuts of steak. Starters like the Endive & Blue Cheese Salad, Caprese Flatbread, Mesquite Grilled Octopus, or the Cheese & Charcuterie board are great small plate options.
If you’re craving something lighter, the Cast Iron Seafood Platter or vegetarian Mushroom Risotto are also solid choices.
In the end, we went with:
If you’re thinking of dining at De Cortez, the average dinner will cost around $100 per person. This is based on two guests ordering a starter, two entrees, sides, and a $60 bottle of wine.
De Cortez is a very nice beach side casual steakhouse inside the Hacienda Del Mar hotel. On the night we dined, we received good service, and the food was well prepared and delicious. The biggest takeaway from our dining experience was this: De Cortez is a good restaurant, but if you are not staying at the hotel and wish to dine at Hacienda Del Mar hotel, we recommend Pitahayas, which is more of a Los Cabos destination-worthy spot. Check out our review of Pitahayas restaurant here.
If you are staying at the hotel, you will absolutely enjoy your experience here and should not hesitate to book a reservation.
