While Truffle Pig itself is a recent addition to the Rancho California Road corridor, the roots behind it run deep. The project is a partnership between Robert Renzoni and Domenic Galleano, both fourth-generation vintners with extensive family histories in the California wine industry. Taking over the facility previously known as Avensole Winery, the team sought to create a distinct identity that honors their shared Italian heritage while embracing the specific terroir of the Temecula Valley. The name reflects a metaphorical search for excellence—much like the instinct of the winery’s namesake—aiming to uncover the best potential of the vineyard.

Winemaker

The cellar is under the direction of Olivia Bue, a winemaker with a technical background and a global perspective. A graduate of UC Davis, Bue honed her skills with stints at Mollydooker in South Australia and Cakebread Cellars in Napa Valley before returning to Southern California. Her approach is characterized by a focus on balance and varietal purity. She tends to favor techniques that preserve the natural acidity required to temper Temecula’s warm climate, resulting in wines that show lifted fruit profiles and integrated tannins rather than excessive weight.

The Property

Located on a prominent rise along Rancho California Road, the estate offers sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards and rolling hills. The architecture blends Mediterranean influences with modern comfort, featuring spacious outdoor terraces that capitalize on the region’s afternoon breezes.
