Campo at Los Poblanos restaurant describes their menu as Rio Grande Valley Cuisine, which is a delightful fusion of South Texas and Northern Mexican flavors. This typically includes a vibrant mix of traditional Mexican dishes and Tex-Mex favorites.

The wine list is top-notch at this upscale Albuquerque restaurant. So much so that Wine Spectator awarded Campo a Best of Award for Excellence for 2021, 2022, and 2023. There’s a great selection of wines here, and we have no doubt that they will be awarded the same recognition for 2024.
Not only does the wine list have a nice lineup of wines from both traditional and up and coming regions, but they also have a section of around 20 local New Mexico wines. We love that they aren’t just leaning into recognizable names like Matthiasson, Ian Brand, and Trefethen Winery, but they’re promoting local winemakers too.
Kudos to Wine Director Dylan Storment and Head Sommelier Graham Unverzagt for putting together a superb list to match the superb food!
Our experience at Campo at Los Poblanos was excellent. Every dish we had was top notch, and we had a great conversation with the restaurant’s Wine Director Dylan. They have done a wonderful job with the wine list.
Not only did Dylan share with us some of his favorite local New Mexico wineries and wines, but recommended a bottle that was perfect with our meal, the Luna Rossa Reserve Nebbiolo from Mimbres Valley, New Mexico; it was fantastic. This wine was aged for 60 months in French oak, and it was a delight. As an aside, it’s awesome to see newer wine regions like those in New Mexico experimenting with varieties like Nebbiolo. It reminds of the Nebbiolo we tried in Valle de Guadalupe!

If you stroll the grounds before or after your meal, be ready with your camera. There’s a peacock roaming the property!
We’re big fans of doing corkage at restaurants, but keep in mind that corkage is illegal in New Mexico. So if you want to enjoy wines from that local Albuquerque tasting room, you’ll have to wait until you’re back at the hotel or at home.

The bottomline: if you’re traveling to Albuquerque, and you appreciate a good food and wine experience, head to Camp at Los Poblanos. Everyone from our server, Adam to the wine team, was great. And we could not have asked for a better introduction to the cuisine of Rio Grande Valley.
