Beyond its idyllic setting, Alisal Ranch is in the heart of wine country, making it a prime location for exploring Santa Ynez Valley’s vineyards. Nearby, the charming Danish town of Solvang offers plenty of boutique shopping, bakeries, and wine-tasting rooms. But truth be told, once you step onto Alisal’s grounds, you won’t want to leave.
We visited Alisal Ranch for the 20th anniversary of Sideways, joining a fantastic group of fans—including none other than author Rex Pickett himself. Over the course of a few days, we reminisced about the novel and film, explored the very landscapes and Wineries (Fess Parker and Foxen Canyon) that inspired them, and, of course, enjoyed some seriously good wine.
