Gundlach Bundschu Winery   – Six Generation Family Owned

The Bundschu family has played a pivotal role in shaping the winery’s success, with each member contributing their unique expertise and passion to the business. Jeff Bundschu, the current President, is known for his innovative approach to winemaking and vineyard stewardship, seamlessly blending modern practices with the family’s deep-rooted traditions. His sister Katie Bundschu oversees marketing and public relations, ensuring that the winery’s storied legacy is shared with a global audience while staying true to its core values. Together, the family’s collaborative leadership keeps Gundlach Bundschu grounded in its history while positioning it as a forward-thinking force in Sonoma’s wine industry. Their efforts ensure that each bottle of wine tells a story of family dedication, passion, and innovation.

Winemaker

Gundlach Bundschu Winery, California’s oldest continuously family-owned winery, has been under the skilled direction of Director of Winemaking, Joe Uhr, since 2017. A native of Sonoma County, Joe’s journey in viticulture began with a degree in Enology and Viticulture from California State University, Fresno. His early career included roles at Duckhorn Vineyards in Napa Valley, where he developed a deep appreciation for Sonoma’s rich history and culture. In 2015, Joe joined Gundlach Bundschu as Assistant Winemaker, embracing the winery’s collaborative approach that honors both tradition and innovation. His philosophy emphasizes a harmonious relationship between the vineyard, the family, and the winemaking process, with a profound respect for nature’s influence on each vintage. Under Joe’s leadership, Gundlach Bundschu continues to produce estate-driven, organically farmed wines that reflect the unique terroir of their Rhinefarm Vineyard.
